GFRVOS Goes Long Distance to Make a Difference!
Just as we were getting ready to watch Polar Express at our December 7th meeting, the phone rang. It was Captain Erin Weaver, calling from Afghanistan to thank Operation Snowball for sending him a package of much needed supplies! Captain Weaver chatted with us on a speaker phone for quite a while, describing the conditions in Afghanistan (two feet of snow and 6 degrees) and telling us how excited he is about the pending birth of his son in January. He went to Iraq in the first Gulf War, then was in Iraq again in 2003, and is now stationed in Ghanzi, Afghanistan until next August.
